Imagining

Imagination. Do you remember when you first started to imagine? Probably not.  I'm sure, however - with very little effort, we can remember some of the first things we imagined. We imagined our dollies talking to us or driving our little toy trucks around. We imagined we are mommies with your own little babies or daddies going off to work.

As we grew, we may have imagined ourselves to be nurses, teachers, firemen and police. We may have been Supermen or Wonder Women; the best at baseball or a popular rock-star. We may have imagined we were the ones picked first on the football field or one of the most beautiful ballerinas.

We may have imagine we had the best cars or newest fashion; winning the lotto, or having a loving mate that knows us and lives only to please us. We may have imagined that when we walk into a room everyone stops to smile - so happy to see us.

We imagine words we should have said and didn't; and we imagine what it would have been like if we hadn’t said those words, even though we did. We imagine arguments we won when we really didn't; and we imagine what it would be like if we hadn’t won, even though we did.

We may imagine possessing power when we don't, or imagine relinquishing power when we can’t. We imagine everyone loves us or hates us - when they don't; and we may imagine living forever when we won't;   and, some of us may imagine dying tomorrow when we shouldn't.

What would all this imagining look like if we put a name on it; if, we applied a individual characteristics to all our imaginings. Names like generosity, pride, bravery, war… Let’s see what would happen if we called our imagining by their real names?

What would happen if Generosity imagined, instead of Greed?
What would happen if Humility imagined, instead of Pride?
What would happen if Weakness imagined, instead of Power?
What would happen if Bravery imagined, instead of Fear?
And what would happen if Peace imagined, instead of War?

What happens when Love imagines instead of Hate?
What would happen if Friends imagined together, instead of Enemies who conspire?

What would happen if we changed the way we imagined ourselves AND others? Let’s imagine we are Generosity - what would we imagine? What if we were Humility, Weakness, Bravery, Peace, Love or Friendship?

Now, imagine if we are Greed. What would we imagine? What if we are Pride, Power, Fear, War, Hate, and an Enemy? What would we imagine?

So, which do you DARE to imagine? What IF – one day we choose to imagine ourselves as Generosity and someone places us alongside of Greed – would you quickly want to change and imagine yourself otherwise? If you were allowed to be either Humility or Pride for a day, who would you imagine yourself to be? OR do you imagine one, but are really the other?

In a time of strife, would you choose to imagine Power over Weakness? Or do you feel only Weakness, so you choose to imagine Power? If you choose to imagine Weakness during strife, would you choose to be Bravery or would you hide alongside of Fear. If Fear becomes overwhelming, would you choose War only to be consumed by Hate making yourself the Enemy? OR in imagining yourself Weakness and choosing Bravery would you choose Peace standing alongside Love and offering Friendship?

Which do you choose to imagine?

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18

Imagine it!

I hope this blesses you today.  Denise M.
